Ultimately, no opponent is too difficult and the learning curve ramps up at a rather pleasant pace. Don't be surprised to catch yourself uttering "There's no FREAKING way," after yet another miracle shot by the CPU player. Gotta love it.Ĭhallenge mode is the heart of the game, and you'll definitely establish a rivalry with some of the CPU characters as you try to take them down. True to the history of the series, players are allowed to heckle and/or harass each other by tapping any of the face buttons. No lag or slowdown was detected in a couple of hours of wireless head-to-head action. The wireless setup worked flawlessly, and the game's simple graphical approach serves the PSP's processor well. All of the modes can be played versus a friend or CPU-opponent over an Ad Hoc wireless connection. Single player offers the courses that are already unlocked, along with a new putting challenge that allows you to practice your short game on each of the course's greens. Even without the whole "unlockable" thing, the standard issue characters and equipment will serve you just fine as you get busy in one of the game's three modes: single player, multiplayer, and training. The reason you'll willingly oblige isn't so much that the unlockables are anything special, but rather that the game is so irresistibly fun and hard to put down that it becomes a natural progression. Its premise is simple: unlock stuff and have fun doing it. Hittin' 'Em Straight Anybody who's played the Hot Shots series, which dates back to the original PSX, knows what the title is trying to accomplish. Get this title now and enjoy outstanding golf n' go action on the PSP. Listen up all you Tiger Woods fans and PC golf snob wannabe's: the goofy character designs and flat-out silly caddy antics of Hot Shots Golf: Open Tee imply a bit of "kiddishness," but the game is plenty grown up in terms of features, playability, and fun.
